About MCA Motor Club of America.

Woman giving a thumbs down, apparently her opinion of Motor Club of America

Motor Club of America is evasive. It’s difficult to find information on the actual company. Instead, most information online relating to Motor Club of America is really about their independent sales associates. However, the business behavior of Motor Club of America resembles a pyramid scheme in that it uses the ruse of selling roadside assistance to cover the actual objective of selling a so-called business opportunity.

About MCA Motor Club of America.

Trying to find real, unbiased information on the internet about Motor Club of America is like trying to find the pea in a con man’s shell game. I’m sure this is intentional. There is a reason Motor Club of America does not want anyone looking too closely at their company. That’s the behavior of a suspect business. A legitimate business wants people to find it easily, it’s called branding. What is Motor Club of America hiding?

Motor Club of America.

The only official online presence of Motor Club of America is a rather dull website at https://www.tvcmatrix.com. It looks like this.

screen shot of Motor Club of America official website

That is the extent of their official online identity. The URL doesn’t even hint of Motor Club of America. Judging by the name and the little information on their website, Motor Club of America sells a roadside assistance service.

screen shot of Motor Club of America showing how the price doublesThis website is misleading on a couple of levels. One, if you were searching for Motor Club of America, you would never find it. Second, the prices of their roadside assistance are misleading as well.

Notice that the prices on the MCA official website above are $9.95/month, $14.95/month and $19.95/ a month. However, when you click to order one of the services, the price doubles. Without any warning or explanation, Motor Club of America expects a customer to pay for two months in advance.

$39.90 upfront plus the monthly expense of $19.95 is $239.88 a year for roadside assistance. Compare that with the cost of Allstate Roadside Assistance… $52 for a full year!

How many people are going to buy the Motor Club of America product when they can get roadside assistance from a well-established company for nearly 5 times less.

If you bought into the MCA opportunity and somehow managed to sell the MCA roadside assistance to someone, how long are they going to stay a customer once they discover they can get the same thing elsewhere for a lot less?

This is probably why Motor Club of America charges for two months upfront. They know that’s all they’ll get before the customer quits. You can’t build a business when your competition undersells you by 450%.

Compare Roadside Assistance.

Incidentally, while searching for Motor Club of America, I found this ranking of the top ten roadside assistance companies. Motor Club of America is nowhere on the list.

The Motor Club of America Product.

Here’s the last thing I’ll say about the Motor Club of America product. The Motor Club of America product is not roadside service. The Motor Club of America product is the so-called business opportunity. That’s where the money is coming from and that’s what makes Motor Club of America closely resemble a pyramid scheme. Learn about pyramide schemes.

Motor Club of America surrogates aggressively push the business opportunity.

Most people searching for information about Motor Club of America will never find the dreary little official website. Instead, they’ll find one of the many websites owned by Motor Club of America sales associates. Here’s one I found at: http://www.mcamotorclubofamerica.com

screen shot of Motor Club of America Sales Associates web site

Notice how the sales associate’s web site pushes the business opportunity. The product is offered near the bottom of the page after the business opportunity has been pitched twice. When a company pushes the business opportunity harder than they push their product, it’s a clear indication that they earn more from selling the “opportunity” than from selling the product. According to the FTC, this may indicate a pyramid scheme.

The MCA video is even more aggressive.

In the video, the speaker walks out of a nice house and past an expensive car. This violates rule #5 for identifying a scam. If they flash money, luxury cars or houses, it’s a scam. They are trying to excite your greed. Once greed kicks in you are lost. Greed is a powerful emotion that overrides all logic. The sales people at Moter Club of America know exactly what they’re doing.

It gets worse. Here is an excerpt of dialogue from the short video. The speaker says:

“…you can be earning thousands of dollars a week…yes, you can make a lot of money…create an income stream that will carry you through retirement…this is your start on the road to financial freedom.”

He’s trying to trigger your greed. This is the sign of a scam. Don’t fall for it.

Why is Motor Club of America hiding behind its sales associates?

SuperHero giving a thumbs downThis tactic allows the sales associates to skirt the law with aggressive and misleading methods without putting Motor Club of America at risk of legal action. Essentially, it’s a cut-out. If a sales associate gets into legal trouble, Motor Club of America can sever all ties so no legal heat reaches the company.

Is Motor Club of America a pyramid scheme?

Possibly. Most pyramid schemes are structured to be just inside the law. They have teams of lawyers who specialize in keeping the company legal, at least in the most technical sense.

From the outside looking in, it appears that Motor Club of America makes most of its money by promoting the business opportunity rather than selling roadside assistance. Without a doubt, the primary focus of their marketing is to push the opportunity.

There is a disturbing and recurring theme with Motor Club of America. They want their money upfront. In other words, all the risk is pushed onto the customer and the sales associate. The customer must pay upfront and the sales associate must pay up front too if he wants to participate in the Motor Club of America opportunity.

Motor Club of America violates rule #1 for spotting a scam“Try it before you buy it.” If you can’t try it before you buy it, it’s probably a scam. You can see all my rules for spotting a scam a mile away here.

The internet is an amazing opportunity to build a legitimate and profitable business, but Motor Club of America is NOT an opportunity. The odds of making money with MCA are extremely remote.

  1. Hi Gary,
Your website is very informative. To recap the only money being spent is to join as a member. That’s how they make their money. So you advertise it as a new rep by recruiting new people who also sign up. So you are helping an over priced product to be sold souly by recruiting new peole??? So you could make some money if you are willing to blow $40 once and 20 a month after that to scam other people??? Does that sum it up?

  2. Mca says they have been open for over 80 years, but better business Bureau says otherwise. BBB shows mca the business started in 1968 and tvc started in 2012. Ok, if they have around for a long time. Why is it I never heard of them until someone I know started working for them recently. That person got their information off work at home site. People really need to their research on companies that they haven’t heard of but off the Internet. Not once have i seen tvc or mca commercial or advertisement that’s not on the internet. That to me question is it really or a scam. The other problem i have with mca or tvc is. I can only see reviews back a few years and most of the reviews are employees. You would think if it’s a bad or good company you would see more reviews if the company has been around as long as they say. I did find yesterday that youtube has a lot of reviews mostly bad, but again mostly from employees. I would not trust this company so I will stay with AAA.

  3. I did join TVC Marketing because I really want to make money. What should I do now to get out of it? I really wanted to make more money and sincerely thought this was a positive way to make it happen. I wanted to give it a try to see if it actually works. I even have to get fingerprinted and get a NC license to sell this product. Are there any real online business where one can make an honest living? Thanks for helping me not to get deeper involved in a mess.

    1. Hi, Bev!

I’m sorry you got involved with MCA. If you continue, I think you will be frustrated and perhaps lose more money. I don’t think you are obligated to stay with them and can just walk away. Please let me know if this is not the case, so I can warn others.

To be sure, 99% of the so-called business opportunities you will find on the internet are not legitimate. A real business opportunity will not promise you fast, easy money or unimaginable wealth. When you are considering an opportunity, be aware of what you might be risking. A genuine opportunity will help you determine if the opportunity is right for you without hype, pushing emotional buttons or asking you for money.

I recommend that you build an online business based on something you enjoy. This has proven to be a reliable strategy for many people and it’s fun. It costs very little to get started but it does take time to get established. Once your online business is established, it will run without you for short periods of time so you will be free to do other things while your business continues to make money.

Regardless of your hobby or passion, you can build a money making online business around it. Or, if there is something you are interested in and want to learn more about, you can build a business around that too.

It works like this, say, you enjoy playing guitar. You can build a website about playing the guitar and sell guitar related courses and accessories on your website. As I mentioned, it might take a few months before people find your website, but once they do you should start making sales.

  4. Hi Gary, I never heard of that company before but if I ever come across them , I know thanks to your advise to stay well clear of them, There are so many scams to avoid so your help here on flagging this up is greatly appreciated. Thanks for also pointing out the top 10 roadside assistance companies which I need to check out. Thanks again…

    1. Hi, Michael!

Yes, MCA Motor Club of America is a real stinker. It’s not about helping anyone. It’s all about making money.

      Thanks for stopping by,

      Gary

  5. I’ve always wondered how such companies who cloak themselves ever become successful. If I wanted to become successful I would never hide myself from my potential customers.

I just did a Google search on MCA and i found the .org and .net websites with .org having a PPC ad. And then right below when I scrolled down I’ve seen some other websites that look almost the same as the one above (but different domains of course)

Of course, the websites look different from the inside, which is kinda confusing for customers. Overall, very bad company and is something you wouldn’t want to go to for roadside assistance (buy from the top 10).

    1. Hi, Dominic!

I think many of the other MCA Motor Club of America websites are from affiliates. The bottom line is MCA roadside assistance is designed to be sold, not to actually provide a service. It’s just a way to get people to pay a whole lot of money for a whole lot of nothing.

Your advice to buy only from the top ten is spot on.

      Thanks for stopping by,

      Gary

  6. scamavenger great name.
From a visual aspect the front page is very clean and uniform. I would look at highlighting the word Scam avenger to maybe take up a quarter of the page from the top down. It would be that word scam-avenger Visual image that would stop me from pressing the back button.
Scamavenger lol… sorry mate for repeating it, its a great name and if the title is appealing people will stay. which way is up to your content
    Goodluck

    1. Hi, Lucky!

Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate your advice for improving my website. Glad you like the name too.

      All the best,

      Gary

  7. Very nice site. Good pick for a site name too!

As for MCA, I’m glad you chose to review this program because I have not seen many reviews about them, even though I see people trying to promote their referral links everywhere.

I’ve also been wondering if this was a decent program to join for some time now. It sounds good, but like you say it’s almost like a pyramid scheme but not quite. It does offer a service, but also seems like the whole thing is about getting more people to get referrals… and then it becomes like a cycle where the ones making all the money are the early joiners.

    Good review

    1. Hi, Jeff!

Thanks, I’m glad your like my site and the domain name. I was thrilled to find it.

MCA is a loser of the highest magnitude. I’m surprised they stay in business.

      Thanks for stopping by,

      Gary

  8. Gary,
The review of MCA Motor Club is very revealing. I have towing with my car insurance co. It only cost an additional $30 per year, It looks like they are just trying to sell people to sell there worthless policies. You are very correct in your assessment that it is just a ponzi scheme. It would cost less to have your vehicle towed than the yearly fees.
    John

    1. Hi, John!

You make some great points. My auto policy covers roadside assistance too and it doesn’t cost much. Even without the roadside assistance, straight towing is not that much either. Around here, a tow is about $50. Thanks for pointing that out.

      All the best,

      Gary

  9. Thanks for letting me know, there are so many scams out there its hurrendous. New people to the world of business who hope to get started end up wasting so much money at the beginning as they are naive to what the comes actually does.
Its great you are exposing these companies and showing people the right services to go to!

    1. Hi, Matthew!

I’m amazed such a poor quality scam as MCA can stay in business. It’s been around a long time and people keep falling for it.

      Thanks for stopping by,

      Gary

  10. Once again it looks like you have discovered another company, not all that it is cracked up to be. Just the fact that they cost five times as much as a reputable roadside assistance company shows a significant shortfall with their services just with the pricing.

Knowing how most MLM’s are always more expensive for their products/services to sustain their compensation plan as you pointed out here five times, shows once again not something anyone should consider.

    Again thanks for the update!

    1. Hi, Travis!

I appreciate that you took the time to comment. I agree, MLM in any form is the most inefficient business model possible. With the internet it’s possible to become financially independent by simply helping people find the best product for their needs.

Why pay good money to get involved in an MLM like MCA Motor Club of America when there are thousands of legitimate companies online that are begging for affiliates and you can get started with them for free? Here’s how.

      All the best,

      Gary

  11. Hi Gary! 🙂

Man oh man, this screams the word, “SKETCHY”. The fact that you had to look so hard for a website or information about them is crazy… that’s definitely a red flag. Like you said, if everything is good to go, why would you feel the need to hide it and make it all hard to find? VERY fishy. Also, the fact that you have to pay two months in advance – that doesn’t make any sense… well, besides what you said – that that’ probably all they’re going to get before they leave and find the service cheaper. And I can’t even imagine someone trying to sell this to someone… yikes. It seems nothing but shady. Yeesh. Lol. I’ll stick with learning how to build a solid (and ETHICAL AND NON-SHADY) foundation for my business via WA. 🙂 Thanks for the info!

    ~

    Artistically yours,
    Pascal

    1. Hi, Pascal!

I appreciate your comment. Like you, I’m amazed MCA has stayed in business. Hopefully, as the internet evolves scammy businesses like the Motor Club of America will be exposed for what they are.

      Thanks for stopping by,

      Gary

  12. I agree with you Gary. A company that is not straightforward with the price is no to be trusted. I had another program of the same kind, which was also not hinting at its services or the brand in its domain name, which nearly ripped me off.

What you are recommending to people on how to make money and never get scammed is surely the best way to go. I’ve seen the results myself and have also gotten the chance to see screnshots of other people’s earnings.

This means it’s the best way to go for someone serious about setting up a successful business online.

    1. Hi, Dave!

Thanks for stopping by. There are so many scams online that we must assume the worse. If a company is less than completely transparent, they are probably a scam or at least manipulative. In either case, you lose.

Thanks for referring to my article How to Really Make Money Online and Never Get Scammed. In that article I try to clearly explain the many red flags associated with online scams like MCA Motor Club of America.

It seems that scammers often play the greed card. That is, they try and make you greedy for what they have. This is true for MCA. A legitimate business does not make you greedy. A legitimate business offers you something of value.

In fact, legitimate online businesses know they must prove to you that you can trust them. This is why the best often offer a free trial. In the case of learning to make money online, as you mention, this free training is the best I’ve found online.

      All the best,

      Gary

  13. I get roadside assistance with my car insurance. The prices that MCA Motor Club of America charges does seem a bit stiff. I don’t see how you could make any money with the business opportunity, since you can get this product for a lot less with your car insurance. Most people probably have some sort of roadside assistance without even knowing it.

    1. Hi, Matt’s Mom!

Thanks for stopping by. I have roadside assistance with my insurance company too. The cost of MCA Motor Club plus their aggressive recruiting really raised red flags for me. Then, as I investigated the company it was obvious they were hiding their true business model. That’s when I realized they could not be trusted. I hope they go out of business. The sooner the better.

      All the best,

      Gary
