Is The Money Academy a Scam?

The moment you land on The Money Academy website, a video begins to play, streaming images of luxury and wealth, beautiful women, yachts, private jets, gold bullion, exotic vacation homes, and stacks of money.

Is The Money Academy a Scam
The Money Academy Landing Page.

Then, the testimonials begin. One excited person after another tells how they made thousands of dollars a week with The Money Academy.

Then, the narrator explains how the people in the video are just ordinary folk like you and me and that they are making money hand over fist with The Money Academy. The narrator promises you can make thousands of dollars a week too, without lifting a finger because other people will do the work for you.

The Money Academy Guarantee.

He goes on to say you are guaranteed to earn at least $500 in cash, just for watching the video. More on this in a moment.

But, $500 is chump change compared to what you will be making with The Money Academy, or, so the narrator says. He even promises you’ll be earning 5 and 6 figures a month with his help. In fact, he promises you are about to get checks up to $5,500 every week!

The Money Academy Deception.

The Money Academy claims you can now live the life of your dreams. If only it were true. Unfortunately, The Money Academy is pure deception. Deception is the hallmark of a scam.

scam-definitionThe images of luxury in The Money Academy video are standard fare for a scammer. It’s an attempt to make us feel greedy for the pig in a poke they are selling.

When we feel greedy, we cannot think rationally. So, by making us greedy at the beginning of the video, we are more likely to fall for the empty promises and fake testimonials that follow.

What is The Money Academy?

When you click on The Money Academy disclaimer, you go to the MOBE disclaimer. Now we see the true identity of The Money Academy.

The Money Academy is just a landing page for an affiliate of MOBE, otherwise known as My Online Business Education. MOBE is a very expensive multi-level marketing company which may be a pyramid scheme.

MOBE has 21 levels and each level is more expensive. As a member of MOBE, before you can sell a specific level, you must first purchase that level. The price of the different levels start at $49 and goes up to nearly $30,000!

ScamAvenger Girl giving thumbs downThe MOBE Guarantee.

MOBE does have a $500 guarantee. They guarantee you will earn money with their system or they will pay you $500. But, read the fine print and you’ll see that before you are eligible for the $500 you must first purchase all 21 levels. That will cost you about $50,000!

The Scheme.

Here’s what you must do to make money with The Money Academy/MOBE. You will first have to buy in at some of the levels. Your personal MOBE coach/telemarketer will push you to buy at the highest level you can afford, perhaps costing you several thousands of dollars.

Then to make money you must refer people to the so-called coaches who are really just aggressive telemarketers. The Money Academy/MOBE telemarketers will try to persuade your referrals to buy into the MOBE scheme and purchase levels of membership too.

Then they must refer people to the telemarketers and the cycle repeats. It’s a lousy way to make money and doesn’t work for most people.

The MOBE earning disclosure states that 95% of their members make less than $100 a month. And, that is after they paid thousands to buy in and pay a minimum of $49 a month membership fee.

In other words, most members never break even.

The Money Academy video is a lie.

To be clear, The Money Academy and the heavy behind it, MOBE, intend to squeeze as much money OUT of you as they can before they let you make a dime. And, after you have spent thousands of dollars, you have only a 5% chance, at best, of making more than $100 a month!

That’s as good as it gets.

The Last Word on The Money Academy.

Scroll to the bottom of The Money Academy website and read the tiny print at the bottom. Buried in that paragraph, you’ll find the only true thing on the entire page. It says, “The typical purchaser does not make any money using this system.”

  1. Hi, Gary,
Wow a greedy, naive individual surely would be drawn by the name alone of this fraud opportunity – “Money Academy”!

Yet, as seen in your great review a person being able to potentially earn money would only be a mirage.

Anyone who, first would even consider investing up to 30K in this venture and furthermore believe that by watching one video would guarantee that he/she would earn money should have his/her head examined.

As you stated the video images of a person easily being able to live a life of luxury through this opportunity is something that still fools so many clueless individuals. One cannot build a legit online business, in a short amount of time and unfortunately too many people just for some reason cannot get that fact into their heads.

Thank you for going out of your way to expose Money Academy as being something that would NOT earn a person $$$ should he/she unwisely choose to get involved.

    Jeff

  2. Hello Gary,
Oh my god, every day we will see scams all over the internet and this makes bad effects on people who really want to work online and even has bad effects on companies that truly work with their users.
Thank you for your information about another scam. this is very important to help people to find a safe way for investing their time and money.
    Regards Amir

    1. Hi, Amir!

Unfortunately, scams are growing like weeds on the internet. It is my hope that people will soon learn to recognized scams like The Money Academy from a safe distance. It’s amazing really, but we are still in the early years of the internet and this is a double-edge sword.

On one hand, the internet is the greatest opportunity in history and this is a tremendous time to learn how to make money online. On the other hand, the internet can be a dangerous place with scammers behind most so-called make money online opportunities.

If someone wants to know how to make money online, it pays to learn how to do it right. This is the best place to learn.

      Thanks for stopping by,

      Gary

  3. Good Afternoon Gary

I got a good laugh when I watched your video on “The Money Academy”.

I thought it was hilariously disturbing where you pointed out that bit in the disclaimer where the typical user does not make any money.

It”s crazy how deep they can set their hooks in you. The 21 level MOBE program price tag of $50k.. oh wait let’s be fair.. $49,500.

It’s hard to fathom how many pyramid schemes are out there. As always, great review Gary.

  4. Yet another fine print scam getting over on people. What is going on here?! These businesses get over on people scamming them out of their money with ridiculous claims and apparently never get held accountable for it?

The part I can’t believe is the “$500 money back guarantee” but only if you purchase all 21 levels of a pyramid scheme first. Ridiculous. I’m glad that there are sites like yours that act like a watchdog over these types of scams. More people need to know when something looks to good to be true, it usually is.

  5. Hi Gary, Thanks! for saving me the time and hassle of researching about this company (or rather THESE companies) any further. I really do appreciate it.

One thing I am still amazed by is how some people know sales so well that they can lull us into that greedy mode you mentioned. I have some respect for that knowledge of human nature, but only if it’s backed by a helpful product or service. Thanks again.

    1. Hi, Geoff!

You mentioned how some copywriters can lull us into feeling greedy. People like this have been around since money was invented. The shell game is a good example. However, psychology has cataloged some of the mental mechanisms that get us into trouble.

In the book “Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion,” by Dr. Robert Cialdini, it is revealed that our mind takes many short cuts when it makes decisions. Essentially, these scammers, or perhaps more accurately, the copywriters who work for them, know how to seduce our brains into making faulty decisions. Stimulating greed is the easiest way to do it.

      Thanks for stopping by,

      Gary

  6. I’ve never heard of this company but it has a the sure fire qualities of a scam. And as you mentioned they are able to get so many people because they prey on people’s greed. Everybody wants something for nothing. But that’s just not the way things work. Great post! You are doing a great justice to the internet world with your site. Thank you!

    1. Hi, Ian!

Scammers like the people behind The Money Academy know how to trigger our emotions and greed is the easiest emotion to trigger. If we’re are taken in by the images of wealth and luxury, and believe their promises of fast, easy money, we lose our ability to think rationally. Once that happens, we’re hook on the phony dream they are selling.

Anytime a business uses greed to sell a product, you know it’s a scam.

      Thanks for stopping by,

      Gary

  7. Another scam exposed!

I have read your review. This is another classical ultra-expensive pyramid scheme, because their “coaches” are constanly pushing you to upgrade your membership or level.

The problem with pyramid schemes is that only people at the top earn money, while 99% of people lose their money after investing.

Pyramid schemes are total lie. It is not safe or sustainable business model (and on top of that it is illegal). Avoid this schemes at all costs!

    Thanks for the info.

    1. Hi, Miroslav Petras!

You are so right about The Money Academy. It just leads to MOBE and, like you, I believe MOBE is a pyramid scheme and should be illegal. The chances of anyone making money with MOBE is practically zero. The chances of losing money with MOBE is 100%. You can’t win.

      Thanks for stopping by,

      Gary

  8. Great review on a sketchy program! The Money Academy sounds a bit like a pyramid type program. Spend a lot to make a little, and no real promises for the future.
I am currently involved with WA and I could not be happier! What a great training program and a true answer to making a life that you control!

    1. Hi, Brendon!

I like your comparison of The Money Academy to a pyramid and about spending a little to make a lot. Only the FTC can determine if an organization is a pyramid scheme, but MOBE, where The Money Academy leads, sure looks like a pyramid scheme to me and a very expensive one too.

      Thanks for stopping by,

      Gary

  9. Thank you for exposing this scam schemes. Your blog has just made me aware to beware of the another scam on the internet. I had been a victim of a similar scam once, after that I understood one thing that all the shiny glittery quick rich stuffs and landing pages are most of the time ripoffs. May your blog spread the word to rest of the folks out there.

    1. Hi, Blesso!

Unfortunately, The Money Academy is just one of a legion of scams that seems to be growing by the minute. Maybe I’m a slow learner but it took me a few years to realize most of the make money online offers are scams. Finally, I learned that making money online is simple and very much like making money offline. Here’s where I learned how to do it right.

      Thanks for stopping by,

      Gary

  10. Thanks for the warning on this website. This website seems like it takes a huge step too far to promise riches. I’m not a fan when people make money off of people’s dreams by guaranteeing success by simple steps. The more down-to-earth these types of websites and promises are the more I trust them. I’ll definitely stay away form the Money Academy.

    1. Hi, Jeremy!

I agree. Some of the promises of riches are ridiculously over stated. I’ve come to realize that if an offer is selling the dream, it’s because they don’t have anything of value. It’s the old pig in a poke BS. If an offer has something of value, let’s see it so we can decide for ourselves. When they can’t do that, they blow smoke about how their product will make you rich.

      Thanks for stopping by,

      Gary

  11. I’m glad you exposed this scam. I’ve searched for really a year for some sort of legitimate resource to help me learn how to create an on-line business. I’ve bought in to a couple that I suppose are legitimate but didn’t offer the kind of training and support I needed. I’m not a true techie person so I can do something but only if I’m shown step by step. I too found Wealthy Affiliates and am THRILLED with their program. I feel like I finally found my key to success! Best of luck to you!

    1. Hi, Michelle!

Unfortunately, most so-called make money online offers are much like The Money Academy. That is, the only people making money with it are the scammers.

I’m so glad you found Wealthy Affiliate. It’s the only place I recommend. I’ve been a member for over two years.

      Thanks for stopping by,

      Gary

  12. I’ve come across MOBE before and almost signed up but I though it too good to be true and on that gut feeling I pressed the little x in the corner! These people are worse than loan sharks in my opinion as there offering the individual hope knowing full well they’re taking someones life savings or hard earned money.

To even disguise it under a different name Money academy is disgraceful!!

Well done for exposing online Scammers!

    1. Hi, Darren!

MOBE is a real stinker. I’m glad you dodged that bullet. Unfortunately, they’ll keep trying to scam people. Many of these websites that lead to MOBE are from MOBE affiliates. Still, when they try to hide their true identity, you know it’s a scam.

      Thanks for stopping by,
      Gary

  13. Hey Gary,
Thanks for this review on The Money Academy. I’ve never heard of it until I stumbled upon your article. But once I read that they’re claiming you can make a lot of money with little work, I already knew I wouldn’t like this company. Because I know from experience anything that will make you real money online requires hard work and patience. So thanks for warning people about this nonsense.

    1. Hi, Eddy!

It’s great to hear from you. I agree, when they claim you can make a lot of money without effort, you know it’s smoke and mirrors, and they are after YOUR MONEY.

      Thanks for stopping by,

      Gary

  14. Wow less then a 5% chance of making more then $100 a month after spending thousands….Hmmmmm yeah that’s almost a perfect definition of a scam, and the tiny statement at the bottom of their website really does say it all literally – stay well clear of this dangerous money vampire system people, “The Money Academy” pfffttt the how to lose money academy would be more fitting name – my man Gary always gives the clearest reviews of these apparent “opportunities”.

Great work as usual, In a wilderness of information online, its posts like this that actually will save people a huge amount of money and stress – keep up the great work bro!

    1. Hi, Marley Dawkins!

I appreciate your kind words. I like how you renamed The Money Academy the Lose Money Academy. Yep, that nails it.

I can only imagine most people never read the disclaimer, or if they do, someone in on the scam explains it away.

      Thanks for stopping by,

      Gary

  15. I think this falls in the too good to be true category. It amazes me that people actually fall for this stuff. You know they do otherwise they wouldn’t exist. These types of get rich quick schemes makes every one else look bad.

Thanks for the info and keep up the good work!

    1. Hi, Stacy!

Like so many of the scams I discover online, The Money Academy is just an affiliate site for the monster scam MOBE. They do make some pretty wild claims. As you mentioned, who would believe it? Apparently, too many people do.

      Thanks for stopping by,

      Gary
