What is YOBV?

YOBV, otherwise known as Your Online Business Venture, looks pretty good. They are giving away free stuff on their website that they claim will help you make money. However, here’s what I found out . . .

Website: youronlinebusinessventure.com

Update: As off 17Nov2017, YOBV, aka Your Online Business Venture, appears to have gone out of business. This is typical of MOBE affiliates.

I’m sure Steven Phillips spent a lot of money to launch Your Online Business Venture, unfortunately, he did it with a horribly flawed business model. As I write in my review of MOBE, the statistical probability of succeeding with the MOBE business model is near zero.

Second Update: June 2018, The FTC is suing MOBE founder Matthew Lloyd McPhee for fraud. MOBE has been completely shut down. (Source)

What is YOBV?

I first learned of YOBV through an email I received that invited me to join an affiliate program for a product called “Local Marketing Hack.” The program only cost a dollar so I bit.

What is YOBV? After making the purchase, I landed on the YOBV home page. It didn’t take long for me to realize I was in a sales funnel for MOBE, also known by multiple other names such as My Online Business Empire, My Online Business Education, and My Top Tier Business.

MOBE is an excessively sinister multi-level marketing company that squeezes every penny out of its victims. You can read my full article on MOBE here.

Just to be clear, YOBV leads you into MOBE and MOBE will take your money by the thousands of dollars.

How YOBV gets you into the MOBE.

On the front end, YOBV is very generous and offers several products for a dollar or for free. The ploy to be an affiliate for these products is an attempt to get affiliate marketers to drive traffic to the YOBV funnel that ultimately leads these people to MOBE like sheep to the slaughter.

About the YOBV Freebies.

If you bite, like I did and join YOBV, you’ll get the goodie they promised, but the program I bought, “Local Marketing Hack” is an outdated method that hasn’t worked in years.

You will also be directed to watch a video about a franchise opportunity that they claim can earn a six or seven figure income. They are dangling a carrot under your nose in hopes of making you greedy for their pig in a poke.

What is YOBV?How the YOBV/MOBE scam works

For the YOBV/MOBE scam to work, they must stir an intense desire in you to earn a lot of money online fast. And, they must make you believe they can teach you how to do this.

They set the hook by selling you a dream, a dream you will pay any price to achieve.

And then, when your desire to live this dream is at a fever pitch, they say for only $49 or $97 you can learn how to make this dream a reality.

The cost seems like a minuscule price to pay to earn $100,000+ a year. Unfortunately, the initial payment is just the beginning.

Meet Your YOBV/MOBE Coach.

MOBE has 21 levels and each level has a personal coach. The alleged reason for the personal coach is to help you succeed, but the real reason for the coach is to sell you the next highest level.

Each level is more expensive than the last and the ultimate level costs $29,997!

The YOBV/MOBE guarantee.

In some cases, MOBE has guaranteed that you will make money or they will give you $500.

However, when you read the fine print in the Terms of Service, you’ll see that before you can be eligible for the $500 guarantee you must first complete all 21 levels. In other words, after you give YOBV/MOBE $29,997 they’ll give you $500 back if you don’t make money with their system. Ain’t these guys swell?

Conclusion

Your Online Business Venture looks good at first. Honestly, I was impressed. They even give away a neat bit of software that makes whiteboard videos. Unfortunately, the moment I saw they were promoting MOBE, the scam was exposed.

Please understand that YOBV leads to MOBE and MOBE leads to heartache and financial ruin. Don’t go there.

  1. I myself was sold on the dream by another company. It is a horrible feeling to be scammed. YOBV sounds like they have a pretty good initial pitch, their services for only $1, that could probably pull in a lot of people. But there is always the catch in scams, you got to pay even more if you really want to make the money… How did you learn about MOBE? I will be on the lookout for any sites that are part of MOBE and will stay away. Do you have a site that you recommend the most?

    1. Hi, Kenny!

I first discovered MOBE when I realized many of the scams online had similar Terms of Service. They all mentioned 21 steps. This is the telltale sign of MOBE. Each step, or level, is more expensive than the last. They first sell you the dream, and when you’re all starry-eyed with visions of wealth, they move you up from one level to the next until your credit card is maxxed.

YOBV is an affiliate of MOBE. The owner bought into MOBE at the higher levels. I’m sure it cost him dearly.

You are right, the dollar buy-in is just the bait. You still have to use a credit card or debit card or PayPal. In the eyes of the scammer, this seperates the buyers from the freebie seekers. Naturally, they want the buyers.

If you are searching for a legitimate place to learn how to make money online, I recommend you only try out programs that offer a genuine free trial. A genuine free trial is one that doesn’t ask for a credit card, but truly lets you try it for free. The program where I learned and recommend to the people I love is Wealthy Affiliate. They have a genuinely free starter membership which is the most generous in the industry. I wrote an article about it you can read here.

      Thanks for stopping by,

      Gary

  2. You do a great job keeping us informed of the real scams sucking honest people in!

I have been around long enough to recognize what is coming in the funnel, but some people have no idea! It is a shame that these guys have no conscious when it comes to do what they do.

    Keep it up!

    1. Hi, Connie!

I caught YOBV when it launched and quickly recognized it as an affiliate for MOBE. The owner of YOBV contacted me soon after I posted this article and said he was just trying to support his family. Apparently, he expected me to lie by omission and permit him to steal from others who had families to support. He did not deny a single thing I wrote about his business, but he did hide his website behind a landing page offering free software. Now, it’s impossible to see that YOBV is affiliated with MOBE until you’re inside the funnel.

      Thanks for stopping by,

      Gary

  3. Hi,
thanks for publishing a very informative article about “Your Oline Bussines Venture”. Like you said, when something seems to good to be true, it probably is. Thank you for explaining what is YOBV all about . It seems like a new scam. I will definitely stay away from this program

    1. Hi, Karlo!

Yes, YOBV is new, but it’s an affiliate of MOBE, a pyramid scheme that has been around for years.

      Thanks for stopping by,

      Gary

  4. Thank you for exposing those scam websites YOBV and MOBE. I am familiar with these kinds of sites because I have been searching online and trying different offers to make money online.

There are so many of these scam sites out that I am sure a lot of people have been taken advantage of. As a matter of fact, the way you described it is exactly the ways most of these scams work with the free offers to start and the promise that people can make huge amounts of money, only to find out it’s all a hoax.

MOBE’s guarantee to refund $500 to those who do not make money is very deceptive if a person has to spend $29,997 before getting the refund.

Thank you again for bring this to our attention so that others won’t fall into the same trap.

    1. Hi, Daniel!

It’s telling that MOBE hides behind various names and websites like YOBV. If MOBE was a good deal, their affiliates would be bragging about it instead of hiding the truth.

YOBV is probably just an affiliate of MOBE, but the scam is the same. MOBE coaches will talk a newbie into loading up their credit cards or emptying their bank accounts, and all for naught.

      Thanks for stopping by,

      Gary

  5. I always prefer the one upgrade/product companies. These multiple upgrade options site are the worst in my opinion. However, they look very promising.
    Thanks for your honest opinion

  6. It is rare to see honest opinion like yours to something related to online business. I liked your post very much as it will help many people avoid this type of trades.
I was coming near joining similar companies but I am happy I didn’t.
now I know about YOBV and I will stay away.
    thanks a lot

    1. Hi, Mahmood!

I’m so glad you found my article before you joined YOBV. That could have been a costly mistake.

Soon after I posted my article, the owner of YOBV contacted me to voice his disapproval, but he did not deny the facts of my post. Soon after this, he hid his website behind a landing page that offers a free whiteboard video software. The whiteboard video software is actually pretty good, but that is the bait he is offering to entice people into his sales funnel.

      Thanks for stopping by,

      Gary

  7. Hi Gary,
great to see another scam undressed. I’m also pleased that you noticed it in time, so you didn’t get burned.

Are there certain signs to look for, that could work as a warning for people with less experience than you?

I’m especially thinking all the MOBE funnels, what do they have in common, that we could use as a warning signal?

After reading your article, I’m quite sure these people will make more funnels…

Thank you, for a great job!

    Odd Helge

    1. Hi, Helge!

MOBE is continually evolving. The dead giveaway is it’s 21 step program. Unfortunately, a person may not see this until they are already on the hook.

Always look at the terms of service and earning disclaimer, if they mention the 21-steps anywhere it is usually in one of these. If they don’t publish a terms of service page and earning disclaimer, it’s a scam for sure.

Since I published my review, YOBV has moved everything behind a single landing page, so you have to join their mailing list before you get an information.

      Thanks for stopping by,

      Gary

  8. Hi Gary,

Phew….well done finding this out about YOBV! I have heard about these funnels but I am yet to experience it for myself. Spending almost $30k to get $500 back doesn’t sound too appealing my friend.

There doesn’t appear to be much information on YOBV so I’m glad I found your site. That’s another one ticked off! It’s unfortunate that you had to suffer first before you realized it was a scam. I hope you weren’t burned too much.

    1. Hi, Craig!

YOBV is new. The owner contacted me a few days ago and he was not pleased, but he did not deny anything I wrote about his business either! The flak is heaviest over the target.

There really is no way anyone can win with the YOBV/MOBE business model unless you exploit people. That’s not a respectable business and is not sustainable either.

I didn’t join YOBV. I’ve been investigating MOBE for about a year and YOBV popped up on my radar. Because I’m so familiar with MOBE, I saw the pattern immediately.

      Thanks for stopping by,

      Gary

  9. Hi Gary,

This news i got from you can save more thousands of dollars and more people love these article those who read.

Totally unbelievable this guys doing seems like not human its very bad guys. After reading your website i check there i see that one page it says invest precious metal or gold bars more in return.

That must be warns for everyone but how?

Thank you Gary for information i well tell to all my friends.

    Edilberto

    1. Hi, Edilberto!

I’m not sure about the invest in precious metals ad you saw on the YOBV site unless it was just a paid ad. As far as I know YOBV is just a funnel to draw people into the MOBE scam.

      Thanks for stopping by,

      Gary

  10. It is unbelievable that the Mobe “empire” hasnt been shut down yet. Its angering that they scam people under so many disguises, all ultimately leading to their huge fail of a business. I have come across their stuff as well, and something did not sit well with me. I am so glad I didnt pursue anything with their business. Thanks for alerting the masses about this business mistake!

    1. Hi, Martina!

I share you astonishment and have no idea why MOBE hasn’t been shut down a long time ago. They seem to re-invent themselves continuously and forever hide behind other names. They have no shame and won’t stop until they have cleaned out someone’s bank accounts and maxed out their credit cards.

It is nauseating to see how the pitchmen act so sincerely and pleasant when I know they are luring the innocent into a trap. YOBV is just the latest cream-puff veneer I’ve found hiding one of the worst online scams in history. If someone joins YOBV nothing good will come of it and there will be pain and suffering that lasts for months, if not years. YOBV and MOBE are digital evil.

      Thanks for stopping by,

      Gary
